Applied Behavior Analysis — the gold-standard intervention for autism, ADHD & behavioral challenges. Delivered through play, positive reinforcement, and parent partnership
Six structured phases — from assessment to full independence across environments.
We conduct a systematic FBA to understand WHY each challenging behavior occurs — its function (attention, escape, sensory, tangible). Without understanding function, behavior intervention cannot work. This takes 2–3 sessions.
A comprehensive BIP reduces challenging behaviors at their root while building replacement skills. Simultaneously, a skills curriculum targets communication, imitation, play, self-care, and social interaction goals.
Structured one-to-one teaching using clear instructions, immediate reinforcement, and systematic prompting. Ideal for building foundational skills — attention, imitation, following instructions, matching, and early communication.
Skills are practised in natural, motivating contexts — snack time, outdoor play, classroom routines. Generalisation across settings is built from day one, not left until the end.
Parents are trained to implement ABA strategies throughout every day. This is the single biggest predictor of outcomes. We spend dedicated time every fortnight training parents in prompting, reinforcement, and data collection.
Every skill target is tracked with session-by-session data. Monthly reports show mastered skills, skills in progress, and behavior frequency trends. Parents always see evidence of progress.
Whether verbal speech, PECS, or AAC devices — children develop functional communication that reduces frustration and enables connection with family and peers.
Toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, eating — skills that many families had given up on become achievable through systematic ABA instruction.
Tantrums, self-injury, and aggression decrease as children develop alternative communication and coping skills. Family life becomes calmer.
Children who complete ABA programmes develop the academic readiness, social participation, and self-regulation needed for successful school inclusion.
Rohan had no functional speech and an average of 8 severe tantrums per day involving hitting and property destruction. He was unable to complete any self-care tasks independently.
FBA identified that most behaviors were escape-motivated. We introduced PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), replaced escape behaviors with a "break" card, and implemented a structured ABA programme 5 days per week with intensive parent training.
After 9 months: tantrums reduced to under 1 per day. Rohan uses 60+ PECS symbols and is beginning to use 2–3 word verbal approximations. He independently dresses himself and can eat a meal without assistance. His family reports transformation.
Research shows 15–40 hours per week produces the best outcomes for intensive ABA. However, at Kocoon Junior we design programmes based on what is practical and sustainable for each family — starting with 2–5 sessions per week and scaling up. More is better, but consistent engagement over months matters more than intensity.
ABA principles work for any child who needs systematic skill building or behavior reduction. We use ABA for ADHD, intellectual disability, Down syndrome, behavioral challenges, and developmental delays — not only autism.
Modern, play-based ABA as practiced at Kocoon Junior is nothing like the aversive techniques used decades ago. Our approach is positive, child-centred, and dignity-respecting. We never use punishment or any form of negative consequence. If you have concerns, ask us anything during the free consultation.
ABA's goal is to build skills that increase independence and quality of life — not to suppress who your child is. We celebrate every child's unique strengths while helping them acquire the skills they need to participate more fully in the world.
Intensive early intervention (under age 5) can produce dramatic changes in 1–2 years. Children starting later typically need longer, ongoing programmes. We set 6-monthly milestones so you always have a clear sense of trajectory.
